You’re Looking Live…

July 30, 2008

On July 21st ESPN returned to form with the 2008 premier of College Football Live. Although I have been very critical of ESPN in the past, I can honestly say I was dripping with anticipation. I set my DVR to record College Football Live everyday. The season is is just a few LONG weeks away and I am getting pumped for not just the Fighting Irish, but for all of College Football.

Sadly, but almost quite expectantly, I was disappointed from the start. This show is a fucking disaster. I am not going to bitch about their coverage of Notre Dame. Every Irish fan should know by now how The World Wide Leader covers the Fighting Irish. But, I will say one thing… Maurice Crum is definitely still on the team.

There is so much wrong with this show that it is hard to single out one thing that really sticks out as being the most dastardly (Molly Qerim talking, is certainly one of them). However, the show and its writers are only interested in about 15 teams out of 120 in 1-A. With so many story lines available to them, sucking Tim Tebow’s cock seems to be the greatest topic on hand.

There is hope for all of you TRUE College Football fans out there and it comes in the form of something delicious that you may already enjoy. EDSBS Live! As I’m writing this post, I am listening to the 7/29 broadcast. It’s already more informative and entertaining than anything ESPN and its stable of “personalities” has to offer. They have Sporting News writer and Irish hater Matt Hayes as a guest, and it puts Matt Hayes in a entirely new light. He actually sounds funny and has a real passion for this sport and is far more articulate than Bob “I Learned How To Milk A Cow At Purdue” Griese. (Peter Bean just called Hayes a motherfucker. Fantastic.)

Now for a lot of you out there you may have a certain preference for some of your media outlets, and I realize podcasts and internet shows are less than spectacular without awesome graphics and interactive fan polls about “The Cooler Helmet”. So maybe a little pressure is in order. Call, e-mail, and pester the fuck out of one network that may have the balls to put these guys on the tube and let me sit my ass on the coach and choke on a cherry twitzler in laughter…

I understand that this may be a tall order. But, the possibilities of a 60 minute show on TV about College Football that is completely “R” rated and over the top is too enticing to push aside as an early morning psychedelic freak out. I also expect some sort of monetary reimbursement if this happens, so be prepared to open you fucking wallet up Orsen.

Until then, enjoy their online show and get yourself prepared for the season.

Blog This

February 19, 2008

Have you become more like me? Do you find yourself searching the Internet for an extended period of time looking for any new info on Fighting Irish Football or College Football in general? Than this is the post for you.

Since I started this site, I have noticed a strange phenomenon. I can’t verify with numbers, but I think Notre Dame Football may have more blogs dedicated to it than any other college football program out there. It’s huge. You could literally spend days reading through all of them. This does create a little bit of a problem.

Where do you begin? Most of you already have a mental top 5 list for the Irish blogs you like the most. There may be no particular order, but they are the 5 you give the most credence to. I’ll give you mine, in no order other than off the top of my head…

  1. Her Loyal Sons
  2. Blue-Gray Sky
  3. The House Rock Built (please post more, THRB is flipping hilarious)
  4. Irish Round Table
  5. Rakes of Mallow

These are the 5 I always look to first. However, has changed that somewhat with its link basis. (A really great tool to get info and to pimp your site, Ryan is the shiznit)

There is however a whole mess of Irish blogs out there that are very well done and give their own unique spin on the program. And that is what this post is about.

During this dead period of news, I encourage each of you to surf the web for all of these blogs and see if there isn’t something out there that you may have not seen before. I have been doing this for a few weeks now, and I am really impressed with all that I have seen. Check all of the blogs Blogrolls. See who they like and follow those links. Sadly, some blog writers don’t update their Blogroll, or in some cases don’t really have one at all. Every author has his own taste and I think their links are a reflection of their own personality and fan type.

Also, try expanding your horizons a little bit. No, I haven’t gone mental and am encouraging everyone to look at a ballet blog. I mean, try reading our opponents sites. If you haven’t already done it, I will warn you now… we are hated. But, so are dozens of other programs. You may be surprised by the quality, and my personal favorite, the comedy from other programs blogs. I take great care in giving Subway Domer an Enemy Blogroll so you and I can keep tabs on our opponents teams and football in general. I have tried to list at least one blog for each of our opponents and a few other teams that we as Irish fans don’t really care for that much. Plus, a few of these are national blogs. And on that note, the national blogs are more informative and entertaining than anything the media mainstream has to offer. If you need a goog place to start, check out the College Football Blogger Awards Nominations at

Please try to search the links I have to the right and then follow the links they have and so forth. You will find a universe spralling with: good insightful football posts, pictures, comics, graphs, communities… a lot of cool shit.

I don’t really get a lot of traffic compared to some of the big boys, but please give me your list on the comment link below of your “Top 5 Irish Blogs” and “Your Top 5 Other Than Notre Dame, But Still College Football Blogs” (what a title) I am really curious as to what you, the reader, are reading. (BTW- If you have a blog try not to list yours in the Top 5. If you have a blog and want it linked if it is not already, e-mail me your link and I will take a look and decide upon a link exchange).

Have fun! And Remember…

Update From The Master

February 5, 2008

Just a few quick updates for the loyal fanbase, and yes, the haters too.

  • Subway Domer’s Irish Lads: 2008 Recruiting Spectacular, will be published a day or two after signing day. Mike Lurie of and myself, have been working hard on this years class. I’m sure you all know everything there is to know of the incoming class, but please take the time to check this out. It should be a lot better than last years preview, which was still was honored by recruiting guru Mike Frank with a “very nice.” (said by Mike in a Borat type accent).
  • Just a few short days after that colossus post, Subway Domer will bring you The State of Recruiting: 2008. This is another recruiting feature that Subway Domer provides, as I will break down and rank the states our beloved lads are coming from. If you haven’t seen me whore this post before, I did this last year and will provide that link…NOW.
  • The nominations are in for the 2007 College Football Blogger Awards. Check out for links to all of the nomination sites as well as instructions on how to vote.
  • I plan on leaving early from work tomorrow and take a little vacation from the place I refer to as “Absolute Hell”. I should be arriving at home around 12:21 and will immediately bunker down in the war room until 10:17 PM. If you feel that you need to chat with a fellow domer on this holiest of days, use the shoutboxx or my e-mail. Just remember that coverage of signing day will be on CSTV (Lemming), and ESPNU (Idiots with a camera) for national coverage. For totally ND bias, check out

And that’s about it. Be sure to get a good nights rest, or severely wasted by way of Irish Carbombs in preparation of tomorrow.

2007 College Football Blogger Awards

January 24, 2008

With the season over and recruiting at a frenzy, now is the time for the 2007 College Football Blogger Awards. These awards honor those who risk marriage and career to do what they do best… spew endlessly their non-stop bullshit about college football and their specific team onto a web page that will be seen by hundreds of lurkers from around the globe. It’s fantastic.

I direct you now to EDSBS to find out on how to vote, and they will have a complete list of the categories. Also, Brian Cook has made a nomination gizmo that blog readers should use as a voting tool. So even though I can’t vote for myself, I can bribe all of my readers to go and vote for me. I’ll say something nice about your mom if you do.

Here are Subway Domer’s votes with complete bias towards Fighting Irish blogs (Except for Subway Domer. Rule #1 is no voting for one’s own site) I will nominate more than one blog in some categories as the rules imply…

Funniest Blog.

  • Every Day Should Be Saturday. This is a hands down winner. Pissing yourself while reading is not an uncommon affair.
  • Fire Mark May. If you ever wondered about the whereabouts of Trev Alberts and want to see a one-eye Quinn, this is your site. Groundbreaking in its interviews.

Best Analysis.

  • Pitch Right. A Navy blog. Adam always puts together fine pieces of analysis. Sadly, this site is shutdown by the writer for having bigger priorities. But, just because Heath Ledger is dead, doesn’t mean someone won’t give him an award for something.
  • Blue-Gray Sky. They will be mentioned a few times.
  • Irish Glory.
  • Sunday Morning Quarterback.

Best MSM Blog. (Pro Journalist)

Best Looking Blog.

The Job Award (The blog that has suffered through its chosen team’s dismal season with the most dignity).

  • Blue-Gray Sky. Seriously, anyone who says otherwise is a dumb ass. Nebraska does not have the national following that ND has or the media attention. BGS handled this year with a touch of grace that I could never know. I threw shit and sat in a corner and cried for most of the season.

Best Audio.

  • EDSBS. Their live show is absolutely kick ass. Give Me A Fucking Siren!!!

Best YouTube.

  • Oldie Olderson. I’m not sure if this qualifies, but no one does a highlight film better. Not even Chuck Norris.

Best ACC Blog.

Best Big East/Notre Dame Blog.

Best Big Ten Blog.

Best Big 12 Blog.

Best Pac 10 Blog.

Best SEC Blog.

  • Fuck the SEC.

Best Non-BCS Blog.

MNC (Mythical National Champ)

There’s mine. Now go vote and make sure to do it before the stroke of midnight on Sunday.

Jones Arrested. Oh Dear Kyle!

May 24, 2007

It has been reported by WSBT that Notre Dame Quarterback, Demetrius Jones, was arrested on Marijuana possession.

Notre Dame Quarterback Arrested
Demetrius Jones was picked up in LaPorte County May 17th on a marijuana possession charge. He bonded out of jail that night.
The LaPorte County prosecutor’s office says he has been charged with a misdemeanor possession charge. A university spokesman says Jones remain enrolled, and to his knowledge, is currently in good standing.
Last year, ND basketball player Kyle McAlarney was arrested for marijuana possession. He was suspended from the team and kicked out of school with the chance to return. St. Joseph County drug charges against him were dropped if he met certain conditions.
He’s supposed to be back in class this fall and could be back already.

I will not go into wild speculation about this arrest but I can guarantee you a few things…

  1. ND now has points in the Fulmer Cup.
  2. The QB race is down to 3 with less than a week to go.
  3. The Kyle McAlarney incident will have a huge effect on this matter.

Stay tuned for more.
