Subway Domer’s "There Can Be Only One"

July 20, 2007

Alright folks, here are the rules for the Subway Domer Football Pick-Em contest…

  • The games will be any team in the top 10 (AP Poll), Notre Dame, and 3 games of MY choosing. This could be potentially 14 games or as small as 7.
  • A correct pick is worth 2 points. A correct pick involving 2 top 10 teams is 4 points. A correct pick with an underdog is worth 6 points. (e.g. #2 LSU loses to #9 Florida and LSU is favored by 3.5 on spread; you pick Florida and it is worth 10 points)
  • Winner (after Conference Title Games) will receive his/her choice of 3 T-Shirts as your prize.

  • Results and updates will be on a new page (updated on Mondays), still to be made. I will provide the link to everyone.
  • To protect your privacy, I will assign every contestant with a small school name that will be e-mailed to you. That will be your ID. For example: Lllloyd Carr = Appalachian St.
  • All picks must be in by Midnight Tuesday/Wednesday.

There is still room to join if you e-mail me at subwaydomer26@gmail.com

Here is a little motivation for you to sign up…

Your Supreme Emperor, The Subway Domer.

Attention Cincinnati Area Irish Fans

June 13, 2007

I recently spoke with my good buddy Jeremy (the handsome fellow on the left… your emperor is on the right) about a new assignment. Jeremy is a reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer (and a darn good one too). Amongst other things, Mr. Peter is in charge of all the Independent College Football blurbs. Which is to say, ND Football with a little Navy squeezed in as well. (Mr. Peter is also a former seaman). He is also a HUGE Skunkbear fan along with being a HUGE Domer Hater (which obviously goes hand in hand).
So all you Irish Fans in The Nasty Natti, read my boys stuff… but remember he is a skunkbear.
Hey Pete, you should have at least a few readers down there.

What I Got

June 13, 2007

With tons of speculation on Mr. Frazer and zip… I mean nada new recruiting info, The Subway Domer has not posted a whole lot of new stuff. I do have some promises for you, and some updates on the site. (Check out OCDomer for a great write up about Frazer).

  • Parts 3-5 of Subway Domers Why The Hell Not, 2007 Predictions will be coming out VERY soon. Hold on tight, because this is going to be a bumpy ride.
  • Lots of foolishness.
  • A slugfest with JB from There Is No Name On My Jersey… his blog has a long title…too long.
  • Commitments from Steve Filer and Michael Floyd…I promise.
  • More B.S.

Hopefully you will keep checking back!

Subway Domer

Throwback

June 8, 2007

In case you missed the news, Notre Dame and its jersey partner Adidas, announced in a press release that the October 20th meeting versus U$C will take on a retro feel. Notre Dame will “honor” the 1977 squad by donning the green jerseys. Of course, these are the uber fabulous uniform colors that helped make Joe Montana a god.

This announcement has come with some mixed results from the Irish faithful. Most of the Domers, would like to see us “honor” the ’77 team with these colors versus the likes of Duke. Some do not want this at all and some seem O.K. with the retro day. Here is some advice from me, The Emporer of the Subway Alumni Nation… suck it up and deal with it! As it goes with a lot of things in life, this is just another detail that can not be controlled by us. So, to help the Domers out there who may be miffed or unsure about all this, here is some advice on what to do on October 20th, 2007.

  • Break out the vintage gear. Get in your closets or nearest Bargain Box/Salvation Army Store and dress to impress… all day.
  • Demand that this gas/oil crises be the same as it was in the 70’s and the same price.
  • Imagine Demetrius Jones as white, and 3rd string…and watch him save the day.
  • If you are 18-20 and in Ohio, go to a bar and demand to be served alcohol… just as you could in 1977.
  • Think of your President as a peanut farmer instead of a character in Peanuts.
  • Crank up some Freebird.
  • Enjoy the game.

This may seem a little much for some of you, but so will trying to pull off an upset with those yellow pants.

What The …..

June 7, 2007

Subway Domer will be back up and posting soon, but I wanted to take some time and give the site a new look and feel. (Actually I wasn’t sure, but I clicked the button … so no going back). Should be all finished around 2 p.m. tomorrow.
Thank-You
Subway Domer

Happy Birthday Dad

May 21, 2007

Happy Birthday to the man that gave me Notre Dame Football. One of the greatest joys in life is sharing something special with loved ones and freinds. ND is that something special. I remember the first game we went to together, a comeback win versus Oklahoma at home. I remember the win versus Michigan in 2004 and 2005 (we traveled to the lions den and the old man almost didn’t make it out alive). Happy Birthday dad and thanks for Our Lady of the Lake and all that comes with her.

“You failed your highness, I am a Subway Alum. Like my father before me.” Screw you Pete Carroll… We hate you!
