Bagpipe Monday… The Polls Are Back- Yet Different

June 1, 2009

Welcome back to Bagpipe Monday at Subway Domer. This is the first Monday of the new format that BM will be taking. It’s kind of an evolving weekly feature that I keep messing with to announce shit, and occasionally make fun of midgets, Trojans, and Mr. Rodgers.

I want to thank everyone that participated in the Random Randomness Is A Survey– survey. I got a lot of good information that will be used in some future posts this summer and early fall. I posted this in some very different message board locations. i think I got a pretty decent mix of answers and it should reflect the overall attitude of the entire Fighting Irish fanbase.

That reminds me. June is Rivalry Month at Subway Domer. Why? Because we fucking hate you- that’s why. Anyways, look for more on this is the next few days. If I say much more than that, my lawyers will have my ass.

Please take the time to fill out this weeks new survey, and as always… ENJOY THE PIPES!!!

Bagpipe Monday… Chariots of Fire

November 24, 2008

What a rough weekend. Motherfuckers. Ahh, the season is winding down and my blood pressure is breaking the automatic readers. Last weeks poll seemed obsolete to me at the time, because I thought the inevitable would happen and ND would beat the Orange and in doing so, would send the team packing for the Gator Bowl. Then I reread my question and it makes more sense. I was really asking if ND deserved to be in the Gator Bowl. I’m tricky like that- I fool myself all the time.

So that question again- “What bowl best fits ND in 2008?” Your answers are as follows:

  • 50% of you said the Sun Bowl
  • 33% of you said the Gator Bowl
  • 17% of you said the International Bowl

If you’ve ever seen Mr. Mom, then you will understand how I and ND feel this week. Don’t forget to answer this weeks poll question and enjoy the pipes.

So I just finished my piece on the NFL draft and the Irish players involved. And then Blogger lost half of it when I went to post it. WTF! I don’t feel like writing all of it yet again, so here is a couple of links if you haven’t read anything by now.

The Irish MUST beat Navy on Saturday. They must beat them and then piss on them while they are down. A loss to Navy would snap a 43-game winning streak, which is the longest winning streak against one team. A loss to Navy would be the ultimate slap in the face to every Irish fan that still tunes in each and every Saturday. A loss to Navy will bring out even more columns, questioning the job that Charlie Weis is doing.

Navy is ranked 114th in the country in scoring defiense. The Irish are ranked 118th in scoring offense, so something has got to give. Navy is going to run the hell out of the ball and the Irish have to stop them and force many third and long situations. I am confident that our corners can rise to the occiasion. The offense needs to play mistake-free football on saturday. No stupid penalties and no turnovers.

GO IRISH! BEAT THE SEAMEN!

Hell Yes!!!!

You’ve really got to love technology. The world has become so technologically advanced that a guy can take his wife and kids to the zoo and still keep in touch with the world of sports. I have to give a lot of props to Curtis Metz for keeping me posted on the Irish and the Mets games going on Saturday afternoon via text message. He came through in the clutch and deserves much love, even for a gay Ohio State fan.
So I missed the game and forgot to set the VCR. I really need to invest in a DVR for my dish. They used to replay the ND games on MASN on Sunday mornings, but not this year. I think I have even seen an ND replay on a Catholic channel as well.
One of the text messages I received read as follows: “Claussen out with injury…..Sharpley moving the ball well”. Another read “26-19 Purdue……ND is coming back….8 mins to go”. I used the messages to try to play the game in my head, but it didn’t work. The funny thing about this team is that you can’t even imagine what it would be like to come from behind, because they have yet to do so. The highlights that I did catch showed some promise. So do we have a QB controversy now? I doubt it, but it’s nice to see that we have someone in practice that could push Jimmy a little. Coach Weis has stated that Claussen is the starter, if healthy.
So now it’s on to UCLA. With as many upsets that have been happening lately, who knows what could happen.
When we returned home from our trip I tuned into the USC/Washington game. Did anyone else who watched think that Washington’s uniforms strongly resembled those of the Irish? The first thing I saw was a replay of the UW quarterback (who is #10) rolling out and throwing a strike to a receiver. I thought I was watching a highlight from an ND/USC game. Someone tell Tyrone-Shoelace Willingham to get over it. He sucked.
Peace Out.
